What started as one woman’s quest to find some way of filling her retirement days, has resulted in the start of a new Australian charity – Australian Foundation for Children with AIDS. We work closely with our American colleagues and share fundraising for projects to help children and their carers in sub-Saharan Africa who have been infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
When we talk about ‘helping’ most people’s minds go to donating or becoming a member. They are great ways to help but there are other ways and some of them are unusual.
We talk to people who have taken these different paths and laugh through some of their more amusing experiences. Imagine an Australian chef teaching Zimbabwean orphanage cooks. Imagine teens in Africa for two weeks without Internet or TV – and they had a great time.
This is a very first podcast attempt so bear with us as we learn new ways to communicate!
